Durham has a rich history and connection with nature. Being home of Durham Furniture, makers of quality hardwood furniture since 1899 and Interforest, a veneer manufacturing plant since the early 1970’s. Welbeck Sawmill is located a short distance north of the town and has a long rich history within the community.
Agriculture is still a major component of the local economy. There are a number of organic farms located near Durham and the Durham Farmers Market runs every Friday from the Victoria Day Weekend through to Thanksgiving Day Weekend. |
